Discussion on Lai Haraoba traditions held

Thoubal, May 30 2025: A discussion sessioh on the theme "Loutarol Amadi Lai Haraobada Phamnaiba Amadi Thougalloisingna Lougadaba Thoudang" was held on Friday, marking the fourth day of the ongoing seven-day 'Kanglei Umang Lai Haraoba' workshop.

The event is being organised by Nongpok Ningthou Apanthoibi Trust at Thoubal Nongpok-Ching.

Delivering the keynote address as the special speaker, Manipur University of Culture Department of Umang Lai Haraoba associate professor Dr Th Ruhichand, pointed out that Lai Haraoba is not only celebrated by the Meetei community in Manipur but also by the Meeteis settling outside the state.

He underscored the importance of preserving the indigenous customs and traditions associated with Lai Haraoba and urged that the festival be celebrated in its most authentic form.

The programme was attended by Nawa Sindam Shang, Thoubal Kshetri Leikai founder Khumancha Ranjit Puyam and Nongpok Ningthou Apanthoibi Trust president Puyamcha Shamu Meitei as chief guest and president respectively while IRE Group of Institutions principal Dr N Rajibkumar and Thoubal District Hospital gynaecologist Dr Noren Takhellambam were the guests of honour.
