AR conducts wreath laying ceremonies

Assam Rifles on Sunday paid tribute to rifleman Ratan Lal Salaria of 5 AR who sacrificed his life on October 27, 1962 during the Indo-China War at Sulula, Arunachal Pradesh.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that a Wreath laying ceremony was held at Moreh in honour of Salaria's legacy, followed by a motivational address recounting the valiant acts of the rifleman and his unwavering dedication to the nation.
Another wreath laying ceremony was conducted at Mantripukhri in honour of rifleman (general duty) KR Thangkhul of 4 AR who gave supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
According to the PRO, on October 28, 1968, an AR column with one junior commissioned officer and 12 other ranks of 4 AR were performing road opening party duty at Tollui (Ukhrul-Tollui).
While carrying out search in general area, the troops came under heavy fire from insurgents, which was immediately retaliated back.
In the ensuing gunfight, KR Thangkhul sustained gunshot wound and succumbed to injuries, thereby making the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
AR honoured the brave heart by paying homage at War Memorial for his supreme sacrifice for the cause of the nation disregarding personal safety.
