Imphal, July 23 2025:
Zeliangrong Union (ZU), Imphal Zone and Kabul Mothers' Association Manipur (KAMA) have denounced the complaint lodged against KAMA general secretary Golmei Ranjita Kabui on May 28 at Kangpokpi police station by a person from the Kuki community against her speech delivered at the National Youth Convention, Democracy, Dialogue and Co-existence, organised by Manipur University Students' Union at Manipur University Court Hall on September 9 and 10, 2023 .
In a joint release, KAMA president Atongpi Kamei and ZU, Imphal Zone secretary Lanchunlung Rwangmei asserted that Ranjita delivered the speech reflecting on the prevailing situation in Manipur and activities of the Kuki community.
In the speech, she emphasised on the factual'position and status of the Kuki community.
Who are Kuki and from where they came from, their blatant lies and fictitious histories of Manipur and claims of being indigenous people.
The Kuki people had no co-relation in the history of Manipur as they are not indigenous tribe of Manipur, it said.
Recalling that International Human Rights Association, Manipur president and Myanmar coordinator Mark T Haokip on November 23, 2021 had uploaded a derogatory and defamatory post on social media against freedom fighter 'Haipei' Rani Gaidinliu calling her a fake freedom fighter, criminal and being imprisoned for her crime, the joint release decried that the re mark is highly insulting to the Zeliangrong Naga community.
"In response to the irresponsible remark, Golmei Ranjita Kabui rebuked Mark T Haokip personally as he belongs to Kuki community.
Her rebuttal speech is to him only and not to the entire Kuki community.
Therefore, the complaint/FIR lodged against Golmei Ranjita Kabui is unreasonable and not maintainable," it said.
