IPSA alleges nepotism in tin sheet distribution

International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) has expressed disappointment oyer the manner in which tin sheets have been distributed to families affected by the hailstorm which hit the state on May 5 .
In a statement, IPSA Thoubal branch secretary S Ranbir acknowledged that after the state government announced assistance for hailstorm-hit people, the Thoubal deputy commissioner directed staff members and representatives of local organisations to submit held enquiry/survey reports and prioritise assistance to widows and impoverished families.
However, it has been found that the representatives distributed the tin sheets to their relatives, acquaintances, connected individuals, businessmen, and government employees, alleged the secretary.
The release further stated that conduct of representatives of the local bodies, including ZP members, pradhans, councillors, and ward members should be investigated.
The secretary, meanwhile, commended the DC for aiding construction of house of three orphaned siblings of Khangabok Part-2 Mayai Leikai.
