SEMC students oppose appointment of new principal

Imphal, February 22 2025: The students' union of South East Manipur College, Komlathabi, Chandel distirict have expressed disappointment with the Governor's recent order regarding the appointment of new principal in place of their incumbent principal in-charge Dr L Khiloni.

In a release, SEMC Students' Union general secretary SK Wangdam Lamkang stated that the incumbent principal in-charge Dr L Khiloni has been working sincerely for the development of the college with full dedication since she took charge.

Through her initiatives and endeavour the college has been accredited for two consecutive times scoring B and B++ in the first and second cycle of accreditation by NAAC respectively.

During her tenure, the college has progressed immensely in academic as well as in developmental works of the college, it mentioned.

"So, we demand an efficient local administrator Dr L Khiloni, who can discharge the duty regularly and efficiently for the benefits of the college and students in general.

As SEMCO which has been newly converted into a government college, is situated in the hill district, replacing the incumbent local principal by non-local principal is inappropriate keeping in view of the prevailing situation in the state".

"We, therefore request the authority concerned to reconsider the matter in the interest of the students' community and revoke the transfer order at the earliest," it said.
