Assam Rifles conducted a joint flood relief training exercise at Khongjom War Memorial Lake, Thoubal district on Monday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the aim of the training is to enhance inter-agency coordination and equip personnel and civilians with practical skills and knowledge for effective response during flood emergencies.
The exercise witnessed active participation from Assam Rifles, NDRF, RAF, National Cadet Corps (NCC) and local civilians.
The drill included hands-on modules such as boat rescue operations, where the NDRF team demonstrated techniques for safely evacuating people from flood-affected areas.
Participants were introduced to various safety equipment including proper procedures for donning life jackets before entering water.
The life-saving drill segment focused on essential skills like CPR, first aid, and emergency response methods for rescuing drowning individuals, the PRO stated.
Recognising the crucial role of civilians during disaster situations, the training also aimed at empowering the local community to act as first responders.
The joint participation of security forces, NCC cadets and civilians made the exercise a true example of collective preparedness and resilience, the PRO added.
