Clean up, awareness drive on SUPs conducted

A clean-up programme cum awareness drive on 'Ban of Single Use Plastics (SUPs)' was organised by Oriental College Eco-Club and NSS Units in collaboration with Directorate of Environment and Climate Change at the campus of the college on Wednesday, in sync with the state wide enforcement drive on SUP ban.
As per a release, Oriental College principal Dt S Ranjit Singh launched the awareness drive which was attended by around 150 teachers, non-teaching staff and students.
Oriental College Teachers' Association vice president M Lokendro Singh, College dean of arts Dr G Ranita Devi and dean of science Wormila were also present on the occasion.
Eco-Club convener Dr Rajkumar Imosana Singh delivered keynote address of the programme.
The release also informed that similar campaign on 'Plastic Free Zone' was held at the College campus on Tuesday.
Other colleges' such as Maharaj Bodhchandra College, Palace Gate; Modern College, Porompat; and Kha Manipur College, Kakching are also planning to organise similar drives in their respective colleges in the next few days.
