Man shot dead in Yaralpat

Imphal, November 14 2024: A man was found shot dead at Yaralpat Viewpoint along Tinsid Road under Porompat police station early Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Waikhom Sanaton Singh (27) s/o (L) Premkumar of Kharasom village under Lamlai PS.

Sanaton is survived by his wife, a four-year old son and a 25-day old daughter.

Condemning Sanaton's killing, Kharasom Apunba Meira Paibi staged a sit-in protest at the local community hall on Thursday, wherein one Soubam (o) Ranita Arambam said Sanaton was a daily wager.

She continued that even if Sanaton committed mistake or crimes, the family should be made aware, he given a chance to atone for the same.

Such reckless killing is condemnable, she said, and urged authority concerned to investigate the same.

According to the family, Sanaton left home on his maroon coloured Activa to buy clothes for Ningol Chakkouba on November 1, but failed to return home.

His phone also could not be reached.

While the family were wondering about his whereabouts and suspecting he might be visiting his father in Moirang, they received news that he had been shot dead in Yaralpat area on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Porompat police station has registered a case in this regard and the body deposited at JNIMS morgue for post mortem examination.
