MLPCC to urge for use of Meetei Mayek in Assam

Imphal, September 12 2022: Manipur Language Protection Coordination Committee (MLPCC) has decided to urge the Assam state government for usage of Meetei Mayek script in that state.

In a statement, Committee convenor Swapan Ashangbam informed that a meeting of the working sub-committee of MLPCC was convened on Sunday at the hall of South Barak Rural Development Agency in Binnakandi, Assam to discuss the prospect of studying Meetei Mayek (script) .

The meeting, which was attended by leaders of various Assam-based bodies arrd organisations, unanimously approved the prospect and tasked MLPCC to work alongside other organisations and institutes to prevail upon the Assam government for its approval on the matter.

Meanwhile, expressing regret on not being able to attend the meeting; Luchinghan, Ahan Taranithoi (12), Apokpa Marup Naoriya Amusana, in a press release, hailed and extended support to the decision, and further appealed to the all concerned to support the step taken by the organisations.
