Mass rally protests Waqf Amendment Act

Thoubal, April 11 2025: A mass protest rally against the recently passed Waqf Amendment Act 2025 was organised by Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam, Yairipok Tulihal, in collaboration with local clubs and organisations, at Yairipok Tulihal on Friday.

The rally began from Yairipok Tulihal Mayai Leikai, covering various parts of the locality, including Thambalnu Keithel, with protestors carrying placards bearing slogans such as "We condemn the politicisation of Waqf", "The rights of our ancestors must not be curtailed" and "Repeal the Waqf Amendment Act 2025" .

Speaking on the sidelines of the rally, Md Coordination Committee for Protection of Waqf Properties, Manipur, convenor Raees Ahamed Tampak, stated that no external authority has the right to interfere in the management of properties and assets endowed by Muslim individuals and forefathers for religious, charitable or community purposes under Islamic law.

He added, "The Waqf Amendment, passed by both Houses of Parliament and subsequently assented to by the President, is a violation of legal and religious principles.

Such an Act must be repealed" .
