Rajarshi Bhagyachandra death anniversary held

The 226th death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra was observed at his birthplace, Yaiskul Janmasthan on Sunday.
The commemorative event was jointly organised by Shri Shri Govindaji Temple Board, Karta Bhagyachandra Parishad, and Rasheshwari Pala Marup to honour the legacy of the, then king.
Speaking at the event, Shri Shri Govindaji Temple Board 'bor senapati' RK Chiranjit remembered Bhagyachandra as a valiant ruler who stoutly defended Manipur's sovereignty against several invasions.
He also highlighted Bhagyachandra's dedication to Vaishnavism and his contribution to the cultural heritage of Manipur, including the construction of the Shri Shri Govindajee Temple in 1776 and founding of the world- renowned Raas Dance and Nata Sankirtana traditions.
