VDF body demands clarification on remuneration hike

Imphal, August 06 2024: All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has demanded an explanation from chief minister N Biren regarding his statement in the ongoing assembly session about enhanced remuneration for Village Defence Force (VDF) personnel.

Expressing concern over the confusion created by the CM's remarks, Associations president Laishram Deban told newspersons at Manipur Press Club on Monday that on August 2 CM Biren, while responding to MLA Th Lokeshwar, stated that the remuneration for VDF personnel had been enhanced.

However, he pointed out that no such enhancement has been made since 2023, leaving VDF personnel confused and agitated.

He urged the CM to provide a clear explanation and share the details of the purported enhancement during the upcoming discussion on the home department scheduled for August 8.He also cautioned that if the CM fails to clarify the matter, VDF personnel from all 16 districts of Manipur will gather in Imphal to stage protest.
