Conference on "Exploring Current Trends in Physical Education and Sports Science" held

A three-day International Conference on "Exploring Current Trends in Physical Education and Sports Science: Innovations, Challenges and Opportunities" was inaugurated on Wednesday at Manipur University, Imphal.
The conference was organised by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, MU, with an aim to foster innovations and opportunities, addressing the challenges in sports & physical education.
According to a release issued by MU, the inaugural function highlighted special performances showcasing deeply rooted tradition, rich culture and art forms of Manipur including Manipuri martial art practice, Pena & Moibung invocations and Pung Cholom.
A conference souvenir and a book was also released by the dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, MU, observed that there has been a tremendous development and advancement in the field of sports technology.
Highlighting the advancement in the field of research, particularly in kinesiology and biomechanics, and sports medicines, he stated it is crucial for sports educationists to take up initiatives in providing a platform to upgrade our skills and knowledge.
Emphasizing on collaborative efforts.
Prof N Lokendra said collaboration is one of the essential norms which leads to excellence due to flow of ideas and information in different areas of research in the field of sports science.
He also congratulated Dr L Santosh Singh, organising secretary of the conference, for streamlining publications of conference papers in Scopus indexed journal.
The VC maintained that the conference will encourage and inspire young athletes, students and research scholars to open up their minds, leading to meaningful interactions and establishing linkages for future academic pursuits.
The guest of honour, Prof Oleksandr Krasilshchikov, University Technology, MARA, Malaysia, stated that Manipur University is becoming a place for holding successful international conferences.
He expressed that the field of sports science is becoming more dynamic as India bids to host the 2036 Olympics.
Dr Piyush Jain, Secretary, Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI); Prof Atjunsinh Rana, former Vice-Chancellor, Swamim Gujarat Sports University, Gujarat; Prof Laxmikanth Rathor, former Vice Chancellor, Palamuru University, Telangana; and Prof Premlata Maisnam, Dean, School of Education, MU also spoke on the occasion.
