Tamenglong hosts advocacy prog on VDVKS

Tamenglong, July 05 2024:
An advocacy programme on Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVKS) for Keikao VDVK was held on Friday at the UBC community hall in Tamenglong district headquarters.
The programme was attended by Tamenglong ADM Chunglenmang Kipgen and DFO Kh Hitler Singh as chief guest and president respectively while RFO Joel Gangmei the resource person.
In their addresses, Chunglenmang advised Self Help Group members to sincerely carry out their responsibility of helping each other with the assistance provided by the forest department while Kh Hitler appealed to people to learn new skills for value addition of agro-forestry products such as ginger, garlic, bamboo shoots, king chilly, amla, etc., for export to even foreign countries.
He also assured of providing training for packaging and marketing.
The Van Dhan Vikas Kendras/Karyakram is a government of India initiative aimed at improving livelihood of tribal population.
The focus and objective of the initiative is to harness the wealth of the forest for the benefit of society as a whole and tribal population in particular.
VDVKS is a joint effort of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) and the government of India.
