SCC highlights environmental stewardship

Sorshia Christian College (SCC), Mapao, Kangpokpi district marked World Environment Day 2025 under the theme 'Ending Plastic Pollution Globally' on Thursday with students, teachers, and the neighbourhood, all sharing their passion for caring for the world and their mission as disciples of God to look after it.
In a release, SSC director Dr Atom Sunil Singh informed that SSC founder Sorei Raman kicked off the event with a memory of the modest beginning of the institution and reflecting on the home environment that still promotes learning as well as spiritual development.
Pointing to the religious component of environmental stewardship, Needy Home Academy chairman and DMU associate professor Dr R Chance Raman reminded the attendees that "God made the earth and instructed Adam to guard and maintain it".
He noted that nature gives us a holy relationship to the Creator - thereby rendering environmental management a religious act of worship and obedience.
Retired agriculture officer Zangbell Raman and ICAR, Lamphel retired chief technical officer Sanyaola Raman also spoke at the event.
The release further said that participants planted tree saplings at the college campus.
