Anal feature film 'Pakanpa-1' released

The Anal Naga community witnessed a landmark moment on Friday with the release of the latest feature film, 'Pakanpa-1' .
The film was unveiled in an event held at Lamphoupasna village community hall in Chandel district, drawing great enthusiasm and support from the local community.
Directed by Khumlo Moses and produced by Jimhring Anal under the banner of Phetha Production House, Pakanpa-1 delves into the rich history of Pakan community, which forms a part of the larger Anal Naga tribe.
The film portrays their way of life in ancient times, the conflicts they faced With adversaries, and their eventual conversion to Christianity.
The film was shot over a span of 2-3 months in several historically significant villages, including Leihou, Lamphoupasna, and Beru Anthi in Chandel district.
These locations, among the oldest human settlements in the district, provide a fitting backdrop for the film s narrative, adding an authentic touch to the storytelling.
With a cast primarily composed of locals from Leihou and Lamphoupasna villages, Pakanpa-1 marks the debut for many involved in the project, including director Khumlo Moses.
Despite this being his first time behind the camera, Moses, who is a businessman by profession, has embraced the challenge of filmmaking with a passion for storytelling.
At the release event, the film was officially launched by Naga Hoho vice-president Rd David Boyes, an entrepreneur by profession.
In his speech, Boyes lauded the team's efforts and highlighted the importance of taking initiative in life.
He encouraged those involved to learn from their experiences and use them as stepping stones for future growth.
Khumlo Moses, speaking at the event, explained the motivation behind the project.
"We initially thought of making a documentary about the Pakan community, but felt that a feature film would be more engaging and entertaining.
This is how we decided to turn the story into a movie," Moses said.
Although Moses has no formal training in filmmaking, being an ex-serviceman, he expressed that his goal was to share stories of the Pakan people in a way that combines both education and entertainment.
The film has already received positive response from viewers and well-wishers alike.
The release event was attended by special contractor Hl Lovingson Anal, treasury officer Bs Riinghring Anal, president and members of Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA); and members of the Kankhu Film and Entertainment Society, Chandel.
With its heartfelt narrative and sincere execution, Pakanpa-1 is not only a cultural milestone for the Anal Naga community but also a testimony to the power of storytelling in preserving and sharing indigenous histories.
