Imphal, August 30 2024:
Citing the public notices issued by the Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF) and the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) for a public rally on August 31 which urged the public to shut down all business establishments, Government offices, private institutions and join the rally, the Home Department has appealed to the public including public functionaries to keep all business establishments, Government offices and private institutions open and functional.
Commissioner (Home) N Ashok Kumar issued a public appeal in this regard today.
It also asked all heads of Central and State Government institutions to issue necessary instructions and see that their institutions function normally during the rally hours.
It said that anybody found involved or provoking in creating law and order problems in this regard shall be prosecuted without exception under relevant provisions of laws of the land.
Any such act of issuing public notice for organising mass rally and urging people to shut down institutions which can pose grave impact on the prevailing law and order situation is viewed very seriously by the State Government, it mentioned.
According to the public appeal, the State Government has issued instructions to take up necessary preventive and precautionary measures along with a robust response mechanism to avoid any untoward incident and maintain law and order in the State.
