Imphal, July 30 2024:
Social activist Malem Thongam has appealed to both the ruling and Opposition MLAs to take a concrete decision to resolve the crisis in Manipur in the Assembly session which will begin tomorrow.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club today, Malem expressed desire for the House to take a stronger resolution to abrogate the Suspension of Operation signed between the Government and the Kuki militant groups.
Saying that the response shown by the Chief Minister, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly and BJP State unit president to the unrest in Manipur is not satisfying, she added that the BJP, Manipur hasn't taken any action against its seven MLAs who have been endorsing the demand to bifurcate Manipur.
Malem further said that the Speaker also hasn't taken any action against the 10 Kuki MLAs.
The Speaker should see what action can be taken against the 10 Kuki MLAs if they fail to attend the Assembly session, she said.
