Even as almost all pockets of Imphal and several other districts have been inundated due to two days of incessant rainfall, the State Government has launched centralised helpline numbers for emergency and declared holiday for several departments till May 31 .
An order to this effect issued today, said several places in Imphal West, Imphal East, Kangpokpi, Senapati and Bishnupur districts have been inundated and Government is carrying out rescue and relief operations through district administrations and departments concerned.
It advised people to stay inside their homes and not to move out except for emergencies so that authorities can carry out rescue and relief works smoothly.
People stuck in flood water may contact helpline numbers notified by Deputy Commissioners for rescue and relief works.
In addition, centralised helpline numbers--09233522822, 09485280461 , 03852-2440028, 06909525816 and 0385-2912006 involving all concerned civil, police and security forces have also been made operational for emergency needs of the citizens, it said.
Meanwhile the emergency number of Fire Service, Imphal 0385-2450101 has stopped working from today due to the flood.
As such, people may contact the fire station on mobile number 8415925200 for any emergency.
Meanwhile, the Government has declared public holiday for all banks, financial institutions, LIC and all Government offices including public sector undertakings/corporations/autonomous bodies/societies under the Government of Manipur till May 31 .
However, departments involved in rescue and relief operations and essential services namely Home, Police, District Administration, Relief and Disaster Management, Power, Health & Family Welfare, PHE, Water Resources, PWD, GAD, CAF&PD, Minor Irrigation, Forest, LDA etc shall remain open.
Moreover, officers/employees of all other departments must also be available on phone call for any eventuality, said the order.
