Imphal, January 29 2026: Former rebel leader RK Meghen has stated that the murder of Mayanglambam Rishikanta in Churachandpur, which was captured on camera, was both inhuman and an act of terrorism carried out by armed Kuki terrorists.

Today, a team of the Peace Committee Kangleipak Manipur (PKCM) visited the residence of Rishikanta in Kakching Khunou and provided cash assistance to support the Lanna Thouram rites of Rishikanta, which is scheduled for February 4.Meghen is the advisor of PKCM.

Speaking to the media, Meghen stated that the cold-blooded murder of Rishikanta should have been condemned in the strongest terms by Indian leaders, but unfortunately, that hasn't been the case.

He pointed out that Rishikanta was murdered on camera on Manipur's Statehood Day, a clear indication that Kuki armed groups do not accept the Statehood of Manipur.

Meghen further emphasized that the murder was a message aimed at disintegrating Manipur by challenging the Constitutional sovereignty of India.

Where has the Indian Government gone? he questioned, stating that governance has completely failed in Manipur.

People of Manipur must stand united, given how Kuki armed groups have been creating trouble in the State, he said.
