Imphal, January 28 2026:
The Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) has extended its support to the Manipur Kanba Khongchat, a protest march organised by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCO-MI), scheduled for January 31, 2026 .
In a statement, HERICOUN called on all people of Manipur to join and support the rally, emphasising the importance of unity in safeguarding the integrity of the State.
The Council claimed that the Government of India (GoI) has failed to resolve the ongoing crisis in Manipur, which began on May 3, 2023 .
Saying that thousands of people are still languishing in relief camps due to the violent campaign targeting the Meiteis, HERIOCUN alleged that the crisis is being orchestrated by the GoI .
The Council also accused the GoI of politicising the restrictions on free movement along highways instead of resolving the issue.
The Government of India has been allowing Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists to operate with impunity, HERICOUN claimed, citing the recent murder of Mayanglambam Rishikanta in Churachandpur.
Stating that a massive movement is necessary to oppose the alleged actions of GoI which is detrimental to Manipur, the Council appealed to everyone to join the protest march scheduled for January 31 .
