4 more Covid fatalities take toll to 348

Imphal, December 27 2020:
COVID-19 death toll in Manipur has reached 348 with 4 persons succumbing to the contagion in the last 24 hours at four different hospitals in Imphal.
The deaths include one 67 year old male from Churachandpur, 60 years old male from Imphal East, 69 years old male from Imphal West and a 75 year old female from Imphal West.
They passed away at from Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, JNIMS and RIMS respectively, as per a press release issued by Additional Director and Spokesperson, Health Department from the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The State, in the last 24 hours, saw 73 patients discharged with the recovery of 43 who were in home isolation; 15 of CAPF; 2 each at RIMS, Shija Hospital and Kamjong; 3 at Raj Medicity, 1 at LKK and 5 at Thoubal.

53 fresh COVID cases were also registered in the last 24 hours of which 52 were from the general population and one from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
The persons were tested at JNIMS (11), RIMS (1), Imphal West (10), Maipakpi (3), Raj Medicity (3), Escent Diagnostics (1), Imphal Hospital (1), Jivan Hospital (1), Shija Hospital (6), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (10), Noney (1), Tamenglong (1) and Babina Diagnostics (1), it said.
Among the 52 cases from general population, Imphal West topped the tally with 18 cases with Kakching (12), Imphal East (10), Bishnupur (4), Thoubal (2), Churachandpur (2), Senapati (1), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (1) and Tamenglong (1) following.
All are locals without any significant travel history, it said while adding that all necessary precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing has been initiated.
The cumulative number of positive cases has now reached 28,029 (general population: 24,655 and CAPF: 3,373) and the cumulative number of recovered cases is 26,404 (general population 23,168 and CAPF : 3,236) .
The number of active cases is 1,277 (general population: 1,143 and CAPF: 134) and the recovery rate is 94.20 percent, it added.
