Imphal, September 27 2026: Leading by example, the Divine Life Society, Kakching Branch has brought back the use of reusable steel glasses instead of water bottles to reduce plastic waste.

The society used the steel glasses to serve water during a Tarpan Utsav it organised at Kakching Machin Manao Seva Ashram today.

Notably, steel glasses and bowls were predominantly used to serve water in public feasts and ritual ceremonies before the use of water bottles for convenience became dominant.

Taking note of the society's initiative, the Alliance for Development Alternatives Manipur (ADAM), Kakching--an organisation actively engaged in the conservation of Angaan Ching Eco-Park--said the use of steel glasses instead of plastic water bottles is an encouraging sign which when adopted widely could reduce plastic waste.

The use of water bottles at public feasts, when it is convenient, generates plastic waste which pollutes the environment.

The society has, however, shown that a simple use of reusable steel glasses can solve this environmental menace, ADAM said in a statement.

Appreciating the Divine Life Society, Kakching Branch for its initiative, ADAM encouraged people to adopt the use of reusable steel glasses or bowls instead of plastic water bottles during the 15-day Langban Tarpan Utsav period and in all public feasts/ceremonies.

ADAM also appreciated Tayama Foundation secretary Mayanglambam Yaima for providing the steel glasses for use in the Tarpan Utsav at the Kakching Machin Manao Seva Ashram.
