2 more PLA cadres held

Imphal, September 27 2025:
Security forces have arrested two more cadres of the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA) who were allegedly involved in the Nambol ambush, yesterday.
The arrested persons have been identified S/S Lt Corpl Chongtham Mahesh alias Momo alias Amo of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai and Thongram Sada-nanda Singh alias Ngachik alias Purakpa (18) of Wangbal Heiruthong Leikai, Thoubal, according to a bulletin issued by Police Control Room late last night.
Police stated that Mahesh is a senior cadre associated with the outfit since 1990 and he was arrested from Guwahati, Assam with the assistance of Guwahati Crime Branch police station.
With these arrests, a total of three PLA cadres have been taken into custody in connection with the case.
The first accused, Khundongbam Ojit alias Keilal, 47, from Awang Leikinthabi Leikai, Imphal West, was arrested on September 24 .
The PCR further stated that another cadre of PLA involved in collection and sharing information on movement of security personnel was arrested from Tera Urak check-point in Bishnupur on September 26 .
The arrested person has been identified as Khangembam Thoiba alias Thoi of Kumbi.
Notably, on September 19, militants opened fire on an Assam Rifles patrol at Nambol Sabal Leikai, killing two personnel on the spot and leaving five others injured.
According to the PCR, one cadre each of KYKL and KCP (PWG) were also arrested on September 25 and 26 .
