Imphal, May 26 2026:
The Naga People's Front (NPF), Manipur State unit has questioned the claim of Kuki CSOs that they have no knowledge of the abduction of six Naga men who could not be traced till date.
Reacting to a news report published on May 26 in which some Kuki CSOs said they had knowledge of the abduction of 14 Naga people and they had been released, the NPF has asked how they (Kuki CSOs) can claim to have no knowledge about the six Naga men when they acknowledged knowledge of the 12+2 innocent civilians who were abducted together with the six Naga men.

Speaking to media persons at their Langol Tarung office today, NPF Manipur unit president Awangbow Newmai stated that innocent Naga civilians including husbands, wives and a child were abducted together on May 13, 2026 .
This is not an allegation based on rumours or assumptions.
The living testimonies of the wives and family members who were abducted alongside their husbands stand as undeniable proof, he said.
These women were released on May 15 after being held captive while their husbands and the others remain under the custody of abductors, Awangbow said.
Asserting that the victims who survived have clearly testified about who abducted them, where they were taken and under whose custody they were separated from their loved ones, the NPF president said that their pain, trauma and testimonies cannot be erased by any amount of 'public denial statements'.
The women who were abducted together with their husbands and later released are Kachiaklung Thiumai, wife of Rev Dr Manu Thiumai; Winiliu Thiumai and daughter Sarah Thiumai, wife and daughter of Dilip Thiumai and Wibonliu Chawang, wife of Phenrilungbou Chawang.
These individuals stand as living testimonies to what truly happened, Awangbow said.
He said that the Naga people have shown immense restraint despite the emotional suffering and growing anger within the community but restraint must not be taken for weakness.
The NPF leader said that continued silence and denial only deepen mistrust and further endanger peace between communities.
He demanded immediate disclosure of the whereabouts of the six abducted Naga men, safe and unconditional return of the abducted men without further delay and accountability for those responsible for this inhuman act.
Awangbow added that the NPF Manipur unit will continue to stand with the affected families and the Naga people until the truth is revealed.
