Assam police bust Rs 7 cr drug racket linked to CCur, 4 women held

Ukhrul, April 26 2026:
Assam Police uncovered a massive Churachandpur-based drug ring in Assam, recovering and seizing large quantities of drugs worth 7 crore.
Four drug carriers were apprehended in Assam's Kamrup district on Saturday.
According to Rajib Saikia, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Assam Police, an input was received about a group of lady couriers led by notorious narcotics courier Demthang Haokip (36) of the Churachandpur district of Manipur leading a group of lady narcotics carriers and delivering the narcotics at the Amingaon area for onward transmission to lower Assam districts.
Thus police on Saturday conducted an operation, Asian News International reported.
The CRPO added that Haokip, along with three other women peddlers, were apprehended.
62 soap boxes/packets of heroin weighing 837 grams without soap box covers were recovered with an approximate value of Rs 7 crore.
The other three accused have been identified as Lam Neikim (25), Hoineigah (24), Kim Neithen (36), and Ngah Pi (30) .
The operation was led by Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional SP, STF .
Officials confirmed that appropriate legal action has been initiated in accordance with relevant provisions of the law.
