NSCN warns, condemns attack

Senapati, March 26 2026:
Stating that the assault on the Liangmei Naga people by Kuki militants has become a recurring issue, the Makuilongdi Zeliangrong Region (MZR) of the NSCN (IM) has asserted that they will no longer remain silent spectators.
In a press note, the MZR said there will never be a compromise or negotiation regarding their land and territory and recalled the attack at Zaimeng Lake.
MZR mentioned that they have been closely monitoring the movement of illegal Kuki immigrants and militants under the SoO pact since the onset of the crisis in Manipur in May 2023 .
It further stated that on March 21, armed Kuki militants launched an attack at Zaimeng Lake while the Naga people were celebrating their 47th Republic Day, The Kuki militants also vandalized the watchtower at the site and forcibly seized construction machinery by threatening the laborers, it said.
On March 23, the Kuki militants opened fire on innocent civilians at Ireng Naga village, the MZR said, condemning the attack as an assault on the Naga community as a whole.
The MZR added that the armed aggression by Kuki militants is a premeditated act as part of their broader expansionist agenda.
