Imphal, June 25 2024:
CPI National secretary Pallab Sengupta has claimed that people want to overthrow the incumbent Government and this was testified by the results of the 18th Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to media persons at Irabot Bhavan, BT Road here today, Pallab Sengupta said that BJP won the elections by a slender margin despite all its efforts and impressive promises it made during the election campaign.
Saying that he too took part in a special meeting of CPI Manipur State Council held on Monday, Pallab Sengupta informed that the meeting held every three years deliberated on many key issues of Manipur including the protracted violent crisis.
The violent crisis has been raging for more than one year and more than 200 people have been killed so far while tens of thousands have been living like refugees in their own homeland, he said.
It's high time to adopt a resolution which would not harm the integrity of Manipur and its territorial boundary, the CPI National Secretary said.
In order to work out such a solution, CPI would take the responsibility of organising a joint conference of political parties, journalists and intellectuals, he said.
He also sought cooperation from all sections of people towards resolving the Manipur crisis and the issue of land reformation.
CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Thoiren, veteran CPI leader Dr Moirangthem Nara and AITUC general secretary Laishram Sotinkumar were also present at the press meet.
