No trace of arrested RPF leader

The whereabouts of GM Changjou, who is the assistant publicity secretary of the proscribed outfit, Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has reportedly remained unknown after his arrest by the Army from Dimapur in Nagaland on the night of August 18 .
A resident of Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak, Imphal, 49-year old GM Changjou alias Gurumayum Jiteshwar Sharma alias Gypsy was reportedly arrested by Army personnel from a house in Dunkan Basti located near SM College, Dimapur on the night of August 18 .
Talking to mediapersons in this connection, Radha Devi, mother of GM Changjou, informed that on receiving information about the arrest of her son by the Army, a lawyer and a family member have been to Dimapur to inquire about the matter on August 20 .
However, all the nearby police stations maintained that GM Changjou has not been handed over to their custody.
Accordingly, a report had to been lodged with the West Police Station, Dimapur.
Radha Devi said that concealing the whereabouts of her son even after six days of his arrest has caused lots of worries and apprehension.
In connection with the arrest, Baby, wife of GM Changjou recalled that on the night of August 18, two Meiteis came up to the room where they were staying and asked her husband to come down for some talks.
To that, her husband had not only insisted on having the talks inside the room itself but she also requested them to stay back for tea.
At that time, her husband was holding a baby (daughter) in his arms.
But one of the persons suddenly whisked out a small arms.
Baby further recalled that the two intruders beat up her husband and dragged him down.
At the end of the staircase, one Punjabi in combat dress with three star marks, was found standing along with 10 other people in civvies.
Later, some of the Army men came up and ransacked the room.
They also took away one laptop, one pen drive, one laptop-toy, a gold chain of the baby among other valuables, Baby alleged.
At around 10:05 pm of the night of his arrest, the family neck of the baby among other valuables, Baby alleged.
At around 10:05 pm of the same night of his arrest, the family members at Imphal reportedly received an sms from the mobile phone of GM Changjou saying "Ei AR amadi NSCN-IM na Phare" (I have been arrested by AR and NSCN-IM).
At around 3.05 am of August 19, the family members again received another sms saying ''IM contact tou, Ei Makhoina Phare'' (Contact IM, I have been arrested by them) .
Whether the smses have been written by GM Changjou himself or by the Army could not be ascertained.
But the family members did receive these smses.
After all these incidents, Radha Devi submitted a written petition to the DGP of Manipur on August 19 requesting to find out the whereabouts of her son.
On the other hand, a public meeting held at Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak yesterday has decided among others to exert pressure on the Government for disclosing the whereabouts of GM Changjou to his family members within August 25 and warned of taking recourse of various intense agitations in case of failure.
In accordance to the resolutions adopted in the public meeting, a large number of womenfolk staged a Wakat Meepham at Singjubung Leirak Machin today.
