Imphal, May 24 2026:
Failing to trace the whereabouts and safely rescue the remaining hostages of both communities [Naga and Kuki] even after more than 10 days is a clear failure on the part of the Government, said Wang-khem AC MLA Keisham Meghachandra today.
He said this while speaking to reporters after attending an event at Hotel Tampha, North AOC.
The Government has clearly failed in governance and is unable to ascertain the status and whereabouts of the remaining hostages.
When it has failed in its responsibility it must declare its inability and surrender, Meghachandra said.
The Government handing over every case to the NIA and the CBI is a sign of it avoiding its responsibility, he said.

The Government handing over cases to the NIA and CBI has become so frequent that people no longer have faith in the Government and the investigating agencies, he added.
While the many victims of the conflict are still awaiting justice, the Government has done very little to deliver.
The Government seems lacking empathy to understand the grievances and plight of the families of the victims who are still missing and believed to be in captivity, Meghachandra said.
Police swiftly detained and registered FIRs against youth Congress members for protesting in front of the CM Bungalow yesterday.
But, no such swift action has been taken up against any of the armed militants who have killed and abducted civilians, Meghachandra added.
"The value of democracy under the BJP has declined.
It must stop blaming the Opposition for its flaws and wake up," Meghachandra said.
The Congress leader further criticised the BJP-led Government for rising prices of commodities including fuel.
He said prices of petrol and diesel have increased and the State is unable to meet the demand for refilled LPG cylinders.
People have been asked to give miscall to a number to book LPG refill.
But even after booking, it is unable to deliver LPG refills, Meghachandra said.
