Chief of MHRC UB Saha bids farewell

Justice UB Saha disposed of four cases on his last working day as the Chairperson of Manipur Human Rights Commission Chairperson, today.
Of the four cases, three were instant complaint petitions and they were lodged with MHRC during UB Saha's recent visit to Churachandpur by Zomi Students Federation, Churachandpur, Eimi Medicos Union and Florence Nengeivah Baite of Churachandpur.
Justice UB Saha, former Judge of the High Court of Tripura, was appointed as the third Chairperson of MHRC on February 20, 2023 .
Prior to taking up the assignment with the MHRC, he served as a senior station Judge in Gauhati High Court Imphal Bench from 2006-2008 and was well aware and familiar with the situation of Manipur.
He was born on 25th August, 1954 in a middle class family of Udaipur, South Tripura.
He did his schooling at KB Institution, Udaipur and passed BA from Bir Bikram Evening College, Agartala before completing MA (Journalism) and LLB from Calcutta University.
He was enrolled as an Advocate on 6th June, 1978, and practiced especially in the subject matters including, Constitutional, Services, Administrative, Civil and Criminal matters in the Gauhati High Court at Agartala Bench, Subordinate Courts in Tripura as well as at Principal Seat at Guwahati.
He also held the office of Government Advocate, Tripura since 1993 till his elevation and also held office of the Public Prosecutor of Tripura, Gauhati High Court, Agartala Bench, in the 1993 for six months.
He was designated as a Senior Advocate in 1999 .
