Imphal, April 23 2025:
The Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA) has patched the potholes along the 23 km stretch from Makhan to Mao along the Imphal-Dimapur Road (National Highway 2) .
The long-neglected road segment dotted with potholes was fixed by MDA with the help of Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union (SDTDU), Senapati District Truck Owners' Association (SDTOA) and Mao Police Station personnel.
Speaking in this connection, Kh Sangitcharan, assistant secretary, MDA said that the MDA along with its associate organisations undertook the pothole repair work in consideration of the challenges faced by drivers of goods trucks and passenger vehicles plying along this route.

If potholes are fixed promptly, it can help prevent further road damage and reduce safety hazards for drivers that result from poor road conditions, he added.
Urging the NHIDCL and the relevant Government department to ensure proper maintenance and repair of the lifeline (NH-2) of the State, Kh Sangitcharan termed it unfortunate that the National Highways of Manipur are neglected while scores of National Highways in other States are well maintained.
Meanwhile, Sande Loli, secretary, SDTOA, shared that many goods trucks have been involved in road accidents owing to the numerous potholes along the NH-2 from Makhan to Mao.
As the State authority has failed to repair this vital road stretch, the associations along with MDA took it upon themselves to fix the long-pending issue, he informed.
