Imphal, November 22 2024:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra has accused BJP National president JP Nadda of diverting the issue in Manipur.
Criticising JP Nadda over his letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge concerning the ongoing crisis in Manipur, Meghachandra, in a post on X, said that the letter submitted by Congress to the President was to restore peace in Manipur unlike JP Nadda's letter.
Claiming that the letter of JP Nadda, is politically motivated and full of lies, the MPCC chief added that there is complete turmoil and lawlessness in Manipur whenever there is a BJP Government.
He recalled how the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister's bungalow, bungalows of Ministers and MLAs were completely burnt down during the BJP rule at the Centre in June 2001 .
What has happened to the Naga Peace Accord, which was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, he asked .
Saying that there has been repeated blockades on National Highways, State Highways, district and other roads since May 3, 2023, Meghachandra asked whether the Chief Minister can travel to a hill district by road at the moment.
"When will your Tribal Affairs Minister travel to a valley district by road?", he further asked.
Further stating that the rate of retail inflation has reached as high as 10 per cent in Manipur due to the failure of the double engine Government, he added that the inflation in Manipur is the highest in the country.
He also asked why hasn't the Modi Government given prosecution sanction to prosecute the accused officers and personnel in connection with fake encounter cases in Manipur.
Narendra Modi promised to detect and deport all illegal immigrants from North East India in the 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign, he said and asked how many illegal immigrants have been detected and deported from Manipur so far.
Asking the Government to not divert the issue, the MPCC chief added that the issue is "your Prime Minister" who has deliberately chosen not to come to Manipur.
The double engine Government has completely failed Manipur, he added.
