Imphal, June 22 2025: An Anganwadi worker was slashed to death last night at Keikhu Maning Leikai, Imphal East under Porompat police station.

The deceased has been identified as Seema Sahani (38) w/o Mujibur Rahman.

She has two daughters reading in Class IX and Class VI .

According to some people of the locality, the horrific murder might have taken place between 12.15 am and 12.30 am last night.

Seema Sahani was found slashed on the neck by a sharp object while she was sleeping on her bed.

The woman, drenched in blood, was taken to Advanced Speciality Hospital and Research Institute by some people of the neighbourhood but she succumbed to the injury.

Notably, Seema Sahani was sleeping with her husband, Mujibur Rahman when she was attacked.

Mujibur Rahman has been picked up by police for questioning.

According to some local people, a man in black clothes who was suspected to be the murderer ran out of Seema Sahani's house and they chased him.

Nonetheless, an FIR has been registered at Porompat police station to ascertain the facts and circumstances of the gruesome murder.

On the other hand, a team of Manipur Police Forensic Science Laboratory examined the murder site early this morning.

Meanwhile, a public meeting was held at Khergao, the parental home of the victim, this morning and JAC Against the Brutal Murder of Seema Sahani was formed.

The public meeting adopted three resolutions which included arrest and punishment of all the culprits involved in the gruesome murder.

The meeting resolved not to claim the body of the deceased until the facts and circumstances of the murder are established.

The third resolution says that intense modes of agitation would be launched in association with CSOs and the public if the culprits are not booked within 48 hours.

Condemning the brutal murder of Seema Sahani, womenfolk staged a sit-in-protest at Keikhu this afternoon.

Young Star Sporting Union, Keikhu general secretary Md Abdul Halim said that the incident is extremely unfortunate and the entire humanity ought to condemn the gruesome murder.

He said that they would cooperate with the police investigation and support the resolutions adopted by the JAC .
