Imphal, April 21 2026 : Carrying black flags, a large group of people took out a protest rally along Porompat DC Road in Imphal East today, demanding justice for the victims of the twin tragedies that occurred at Tronglaobi on April 7 and the killing of two Tangkhul Naga civilians in an ambush near TM Kasom on April 18.The rally, organised by Nongpok Pana Apunba Lup (NONGPAL), commenced from Top Khongnangkhong, proceeded up to the Old Checkon Traffic Point, and then returned to the starting point.

Police also implemented security measures to ensure safety during the rally.

Following the rally, a memorandum was submitted to the Imphal East Deputy Commissioner, urging the Government to apprehend the perpetrators involved in the Tronglaobi incidents and the ambush near TM Kasom that killed two Tangkhul Naga civilians.

The memorandum also urged the Government to carry out the census operations in Manipur after updating the National Register of Citizens in the context of Manipur.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines, some protesters stated that illegal immigrants are responsible for the crisis in Manipur and as such they must be identified and deported.

It is also unfortunate that the Government has not been able to arrest the perpetrators of the Tronglaobi bomb attack and the ambush near TM Kasom, they said.
