Imphal, June 20 2024: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has extended his wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of the 10th edition of International Yoga Day, which falls on June 21 .

The day will be observed under the theme "Yoga for Self and Society" this year with the aim to increase the visibility and acceptance of yoga across the world and encourage millions of people to practice it in their daily lives, said the Chief Minister in a statement.

He shared that the United Nations had proclaimed June 21 of every year as International Day of Yoga, after a proposal was put up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In addition to practicing yoga, N Biren Singh stressed on the importance of consuming healthy and nutritious food to lead a balanced life-style.

He pointed out the benefits of millets which promote good health, help in combating climate change, maintaining soil health and boosting the income of marginal farmers, he said.

The Chief Minister has appealed everyone to join the rest of the world in observing International Yoga Day.
