Imphal/Lamka, January 20:
A woman who had been undergoing treatment at the Churachandpur District Hospital with serious head injuries sustained in the January 17 accident at Sekhen village of the district succumbed at around 3.30 pm today, informed our correspondent S Singlianmang Guite.
The victim identified as Ngazamoi (36) wife of Suansanglian of Vaikhotang in Mizoram State is informed to have been operated on her head two days back but failed to recuperate.
Our correspondent also rectified that the casualty figure, including Ngaizamoi, stands at 20 and not 23 as reported in previous editions.
Meanwhile, United People's Front, Manipur conveying solidarity to the bereaved families of the Sekhen mishap victims and injured, alleged that negligence by the State authorities had caused the disaster.
Asserting that Government of Manipur should be held responsible for the human tragedy, UPF also demanded that adequate financial assistance be extended/provided to families of the victims and the injured.
One shot dead : The bullet riddled body of a man was recovered from Langmeithek Lamkhai under Yairipok police station this morning.
The corpse has been picked up by police and deposited at RIMS mortuary for identification.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established and there is no report of any group claiming responsibility for the killing till the time of filing this report.
