Sangai Fest set to return

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today chaired a series of meetings at Raj Bhavan which focused on the 12th edition of Sangai Festival 2025, promoting Polo as Manipur's Unique Selling Proposition (USP) and challenges faced by the Government Polytechnic.
If everything goes as planned, the festival will be making a comeback after Manipur went up in flames on May 3, 2023 .
During the meetings, various agendas were discussed.
On the 12th edition of the Sangai Festival 2025, the Governor reviewed the overall plans and programmes that will be included in this year's festival.
Committees and subcommittees were also proposed to handle various aspects of the festival.
Secretary (Tourism) gave a detailed presentation at the meeting which was attended by the Chief Secretary, PCCF, and Commissioner (Home) along with other administrative secretaries.
Ajay Kumar Bhalla directed the officers to make sure that this year's festival will be larger and grander with strong National and global promotion, while also showcasing the spirit of unity and resilience of the people of Manipur.
To promote Polo as Manipur's USP, the objectives discussed included demographic profiling of Ponies, conservation and breeding, promotion of Sagol Kangjei, providing a support system for Pony owners, and creating a holistic environment for the overall sustainability of Pony horses.
The Governor also reviewed the current challenges faced by the Government Polytechnic in Takyelpat, Imphal, including issues related to manpower shortage and infrastructure.
The Chief Secretary, Commissioner (Higher & Technical Education), Secretary (Youth Affairs & Sports) along with other officers attended the meeting.
Later in the evening, the Governor chaired a 'Governor-in-Council' meeting and was attended by the Chief Secretary, along with the Secretary to the Governor and Administrative Secretaries from various departments.
During the meeting, they deliberated on multiple departmental agendas, reviewed key administrative initiatives, and explored measures to enhance coordination and efficiency in governance.
