Sit-ins, candlelight vigils continue

Imphal, April 19 2026:
Protest demonstrations against April 7 Tronglaobi incidents continued at many places across Imphal today.
At Uripok Khaidem Leikai, senior citizens staged a sit-in demonstration, demanding the Government to restore normalcy and peace in the State.
The protest, organised by the Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UNAL) demanded the Government to deliver justice to victims affected by the Manipur conflict from May 3, 2023.On the sideline of the demonstration, Moirangthem Kanta Singh, a member of the Uripok Senior Citizens, condemned the Government for failing to take any decisive actions to end the conflict and restore peace.
He expressed concern over the continuous loss of lives amid the conflict and use of lethal force by security forces against protesters.
Protest demonstrations were also organised at Ghari Makha Leikai, Ghari Awang Leikai, Sangaiprou (near ISKCON Temple) and Sangaiprou Ningthemkol under Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) .
During the demonstrations, protesters demanded a strong crackdown on "Kuki narco-terrorists" and urged the Government of India to "stop waging proxy-war using Kuki militants" .
Khurai Pana Apunba Shinglup members organised a sit-in in front of the Lamlong Higher Secondary School gate.
The protesters condemned the April 7 Trongloabi incidents and the TM Kasom ambush yesterday.
Haoreibi Apunba Lup (HAL) also organised a sit-in at Haoreibi Community Hall.
Khannarok Women Development Association organised a sit-in protest demonstration at Khannarok Community Hall today.
During the demonstration, the protesters criticised the Government for failing to crackdown on Kuki militants.
