Governor visits orchidarium

Imphal, April 19 2025:
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla visited the State Orchidarium at Khonghampat which is maintained by the State Forest Department today.
The Governor was accompanied by his spouse Jyoti Bhalla.
A press release issued by the Forest Department said that the Governor was received by PCCF & HoFF Anurag Bajpai and other senior officers.
During the visit, the Governor and his spouse laun- ched a tree plantation activity of the season by planting Heirangoi, a wild fruit having high food, ecological and cultural values, it said.
Ajay Kumar Bhalla then visited the Orchid Display, traversed through a trek route witnessing flowering of rare and endangered orchids.
Later, he inspected the Ground Orchid Plots.
The Governor and the First Lady also watched films produced by the Forest Department showcasing the orchids of Manipur and the rejuvenation of dried natural springs in the Langol Reserved Forest.
The Governor advised the Forest Department to replicate the initiative being taken up at the State Orchidarium throughout the State.
