Search operations ahead of R-Day continue

Cordon and search operation by district police in different parts of the State as a security measure to foil any unwanted incident ahead of the Republic Day celebration is continuing.
A team of Imphal East district police under the supervision of Additional SP (law and order) P Manjit conducted house to house search operation at Andro Maringthel, Andro Kharam Leikai and Andro Bazar today morning.
SDPO Porompat police, Roni, DSP Commando Imphal East RK Saklemba and women police personnel were also part of the search operation team.
House to house search operation was carried out at the areas during which people between the age group of 15-50 years were called out for verification.
Besides recovering 12 barrel guns, the police team detained 15 persons who could not produce proper identification document.
All the persons along with the recovered guns have been handed over to Andro police station for taking up further necessary action.
On the other hand, a team of Imphal West district commandos carried out cordon and house to house search operation at Mahakabui Namching village near 9 Sector Assam Rifles Headquarters, Keithelmanbi from 10 am to 11 am.
Reports said the operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional SP (Operation) Imphal West, S Ibomcha with the assistance of OC Patsoi police.
In the search operation, one person who failed to produce proper identification document was detained by the police team.
The person identified himself as Jangdaipou Kamei @ Dominique (43) s/o Muliangdunang Kamei of Awangkhul Khunjao Part 1 working as a Regional Council Member of NSCN (K).
He revealed that he had joined NSCN (K) in 2010 through one David Golmei, Ministry of Information and Publicity and later joined NSCN (R) under Kilonser Gaidongrei Ruongmei.
He has been handed over to Patsoi police station for further necessary steps.
A team of Imphal West district commando under the supervision of DSP (Operation) Thangkhochon Haokip and led by OC Imphal West , Thangkhampao also conducted search operation at Dharmasala and its surrounding areas under City police station.
Altogether 12 persons who could not produce proper identification documents were detained in the operation.
They have been handed over to the police station concerned.
Thoubal district police under the supervision of Additional SP (Operation) N Modhunimai and headed by OC Thoubal P Achouba also carried out cordon and search operation at Kakching and its surrounding areas.
The police team verified 300 individuals out of which 14 suspects including a UNLF member who is out on bail were detained .
They have been handed over to Kakching police station.
Similar operation was also carried out at Pallel and Tuismi Bazar areas at around 2.30 pm during which 300 individuals were verfified.
Of the 300, 15 persons including an NSCN (IM) member who was arrested by Thoubal commando in October, 2015 were detained.
All of them have been handed over to Pallel police station.
Cordon and search operation was also conducted at Kwakta Ward No 8 by Bishnupur district police under the supervision of Additional SP (Operation) .
More than 200 individuals were verified during the operation.
Out of them, four persons who did not possess identification proofs were detained.
They have been handed over to the police station concerned.
