Imphal, October 16: Assam Rifles jawan Md Hyder Ali of Bihar, against whom charges of indiscipline have been levelled, has been released from detention of the para-military's custody.

The release is informed to be in compliance to a decree of the Gauhati High Court, Shillong Bench passed on October 12.He was released the following day at the 21 AR post in Kakching sub-division of Thoubal district.

According to AR sources the court's order was passed in the midst of a fresh preliminary inquiry being initiated against Ali at the Kakching post on ground of alleged indiscipline.

"Now Hyder Ali has become a normal soldier as before though the preliminary probe is on against him," the sources said.

Ali's wife Bibi Shahar Bano had moved the High Court contending that authorities of the Assam rifles declined to permit her meet her husband at Somsai post in Ukhrul district despite an earlier order of the court.

Bano's assertion was however rejected by AR authorities, insisting that opportunity was extended to meet her husband.

Hyder Ali of 19 AR located in Shangshak of Ukhrul was taken into custody by his superior officers in January 2007 and charged with indiscipline.

The officials reportedly recovered objectionable documents including a petition with signatures of a number of AR men castigating the para-military force's set up and higher authorities which was addressed to the media.

Such conduct is considered to be in contravention to standing rules.

He was also charged of using criminal force against the officiating CO of the 19 AR post.

A court of inquiry was initiated against Ali at 13 AR post at Somsai after which a court martial was also initiated on him.

The case was adjourned on technical grounds on August 17, the sources said.

On September 18 and 19 Bano along with her two little children and brother in-law Akhtar were allowed to meet Ali at Somsai post.

An official order dissolving the court martial on technical grounds was issued on September 24 and on September 28 another order was issued for attaching Ali to the Kakching post where a fresh inquiry was proceeded against him.

Though Ali has been released from confinement following the Court order, disciplinary proceedings against him would still continue at the Kakching post.

The inquiry venue was shifted from Somsai to Kakching to ensure a free and fair trial on him, the sources explained.
