The candidature of INC candidate for Khundrakpam by-election scheduled for June 2, Thokchom Lokeshore should be rejected since the details he submitted to the RO concerned were false, demanded MPP.
Speaking to reporters today, MPP leader and exMLA Nimaichand Luwang informed that the MPP has urged for rejection of Lokeshore's candidature as the details he submitted were not authentic during scrutiny today.
However the RO cleared the name of the INC candidate, he decried.
Thokchom Lokeshore, s/o Th Navakumar is listed in serial number 355 of 1/9 polling station of 1-Khundrakpam A/C.The same name is also listed in serial number 397 of 12/4 polling station of Keishamthong A/C.However, according to the knowledge of MPP, the INC candidate Thokchom Lokeshore is one Oinam Lokeshore s/o Oinam Khoidumba, resident of Uripok Haobam Dewan Leikai listed in serial number 933 of 10/16 polling station of Uripok A/C, asserted Nimaichand.
It may be mentioned here that MLA Thokchom Navakumar (NCP) of Khundrakpam A/C expired on April 26.The late MLA is not survived by any son named Thokchom Lokeshore, he claimed.
Alteration of Oinam to Thokchom and Khoidumba to Navakumar is a serious manipulation, asserted Nimaichand.
Whether the matter should be taken to the Election Commission or to a civil Court is being considered by MPP, he disclosed.
MPP's Chanura Marup also decried the clearance given to the candidature of Lokeshore.
Citing a clause of the People's Representative Act 1950 under which a voter is prohibited from enlisting in more than one Assembly Constituency, Chanura Marup accused the Congress of fielding a fraud.
Re-poll : The Election Commission of India has conveyed that re-poll/adjourned poll, if any, in connection with the by-elections to Khundrakpam and Khangabok Assembly constituencies will be held on June 4, informed a release issued by the CEO RR Rashmi.
The counting of votes for the by-poll shall commence from 8 am of June 5, conveyed the ECI.
