Imphal, April 16 2019: Rajya Sabha MP as well as BJP Manipur Pradesh president K Bhabananda has alleged that the Law on Asylum mentioned in the Congress manifesto for the 17th Lok Sabha election is an open invitation to the people of the neighbouring countries to pour into the North East region and is a law aimed at eradicating the indigenous people from the region.

Speaking to media persons today, Bhabananda alleged that if the Congress comes to power in the country, it will most probably enact a law based on the international treaties and conventions on the refugees issue and it will be a grave threat to the existence of the indigenous people of the North East region.

It is imperative for the CSOs and various organisations, as well as the people to minutely analyse the law which the Congress plans to produce, he added.

Stating that it is the right time for the people of the State to intervene and ensure the Congress is not able to pass such a law, Bhabananda explained that when BJP assured to implement Citizenship Amendment Bill in its manifesto, it also mentioned that the linguistic, cultural and social identity of the indigenous people of the North East region, as well as the State, will not be harmed.

Further more, it is also assured in the manifesto that the NRC process of Assam will be completed at the earliest and the same process will be implemented all over the country, he added.

Bhabananda continued that if the NRC is implemented, CAB will not adversely impact the lives of the people in the North East region.

However, the law mentioned by the Congress in its manifesto is aimed at giving asylum to people from other countries and this has to be done based on international treaties and conventions, he said and urged the people of Manipur to decide which political party is standing for the protection of the indigenous people.

Bhabananda continued that based on the opinion poll carried out by various agencies, it is apparent that the people want Narendra Modi to return as the Prime Minister and added that it is a record of the BJP led NDA Government and Narendra Modi that more than 130 schemes for the benefit of the people were taken up during just a single term.

Reminding many of the schemes like Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Start-Up schemes etc, Bhabananda said that it is the wish of the people to see the return of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister and appealed to the people to vote for BJP candidate RK Ranjan and make the dream come true of a New India by 2020.On the other hand, with the period for election campaign for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency coming to an end, the BJP picked up gears in gathering supporters and woo voters for their candidate Dr RK Ranjan.

BJP Singjamei Mandal organised a two wheeler election campaign in all parts of the Assembly Constituency today.

The said campaign was flagged off by BJP Singjamei Mandal president Ksh Rajen from Ibudhou Luwang Pokpa Lampak (Model Club Lampak), Singjamei Chingamakha, and covered many areas of the Constituency before concluding at the same ground.

Speaking to media persons, Ksh Rajen said that the campaign has been organised with the aim of gathering support from the people to ensure Dr RK Ranjan is able to represent the people in the Parliament as well as to ensure the return of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister.

On the other hand, many famous film stars/figures of the State also organised an election campaign for the BJP candidate at Khwairamband Keithel prior to the two-wheeler campaign.

Many members of BJP Manipur were also present at the event.
