The NIA has taken over two cases of terrorism including the act of blasting a key bridge on Imphal-Dimapur highway Sapermaina in the intervening night of April 23 and 24, 2024.The Special Judge, NIA Manipur today admitted two applications filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with re-registration of the case pertaining to the powerful IED explosion which caused substantial damage to a key bridge of Imphal-Dimapur highway in between Koubru Leikha and Sapermaina Bazar, and the damages done to the legs of a power tower at Kotlen.
In connection with the incident of blasting the bridge, an FIR was registered at Gamnom Sapermaina police station.

However, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued an order on May 10 which directed the NIA to take over the investigation of the two particular FIRs registered at Gamnom Sapermaina police station and New Keithelmanbi police station respectively.
Apart from praying the Special Judge NIA Manipur to accept re-registration of the two cases, the NIA's application sought the Court's direction to the CJM Senapati/Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kangpokpi to transfer all the judicial dock-ets/case records to the same record.
The same applications further prayed the Court to direct Gamnom Sapermaina police station and New Keithelmanbi police station to hand over all the documents and seized materials/exhibits, if any, related to the two cases to the Chiefinvestigating Officer of the NIA.
The Court, after perusing the applications, directed CJM Senapati/JMIC Kangpokpi, Gamnom Sapermaina police station and New Keithelmanbi police station to hand over all the judicial dockets/case records, documents and seized materials/exhibits related to the two cases to the Chief Investigating Officer of the NIA at the earliest.
