The three persons claimed to have been killed in an encounter at about 3.30 am of February 11 at Nambasi in Ukhrul district by 12 AR of 10 Sector had no link whatsoever with the RPF and its army PLA, clarified GM Changjou, Chief Department of Publicity, RPF.
In a press clarification, GM Changjou asserted that there was no encounter between PLA and AR on that day.
Earlier, the PRO of Assam Rifles had also issued similar press releases.
There had been may occasions in the past \ on which the AR had handed over dead bodies to Manipur Police, and also Manipur Police had picked up dead bodies.
However, in most of the incidents, the AR had not handed over any weapon to the police.
This shows that the incidents were all fake encounters.
This latest incident of killing three persons in all probability could have been a fake encounter, the RPF stated.
The press release further stated that reports have been received that the security forces were harassing villagers in the interior areas of Manipur in the name of CI ops.
The security forces beat up the villagers who do not carry the pass issued by them.
Some had been reportedly killed in fake encounters.
Parents of pretty young girls are scared that the officers and the NCOs would dupe them.
Passengers travelling between Imphal and Moreh are unnecessarily harassed at Khudengthabi and Tengnoupal check posts.
There are reports of some of the persons without identity cards had been killed in fake encounters, GM Changjou alleged.
