Chairman assures fair, transparent MSSC

Imphal, January 15 2026: Chairman of the newly-constituted Manipur Staff Selection Commission (MSSC) T Ranjit Singh (retired IAS officer) has stated that the Commission is committed to establish a transparent, secure, and efficient recruitment process in the State.

Addressing the media at Imphal West Deputy Commissioner office complex today, he emphasized that the recruitment system will be based solely on merit, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all candidates applying for subordinate posts across the State.

Ranjit said that he assumed the charge on September 2, 2024 following his appointment under Section 3 of the Manipur Staff Selection Commission Act, 2022 .

As a newly-established body, the MSSC is currently operating with a limited workforce, he said.

Despite these resource constraints, Ranjit assured that concerted efforts are being made to develop and implement robust systems to ensure the smooth functioning of the Commission.

Clarifying that the MSSC will focus exclusively on conducting recruitment examinations for Group C and Group D positions, he added that recruitment for gazetted posts will continue to be managed by the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC), as per existing procedures.

Highlighting a major reform, Ranjit announced that the Government has approved the transition to Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for conducting examinations.

This initiative is designed to eliminate human error and reduce the possibility of manipulation, ensuring a fair, transparent, and seamless examination process, he said.

He further stated that the Commission has issued its first recruitment notification for around ten regular posts of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) .

Ranjit Singh said that the recruitment process will be completely free, from corruption.

He emphasized that selections would be made strictly on merit and the candidates who prepare sincerely and follow instructions would have a fair opportunity.

Expressing confidence in the Commission's role, he said that the establishment of the MSSC would bring a significant change in the recruitment of Group C and Group D subordinate staff.
