Imphal, October 14 2026: MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam has stated that theatre has been contributing significantly in leading the society to the right path.

Theatre Mirror Imphal's new play Amamkol (The Blind) premiered today at JN Manipur Dance Academy.

The play was staged today at the end of a training programme organised by Theatre Mirror, Imphal under the aegis of Art and Culture Department with financial assistance from Chief Ministergi Artiste-shingi Tengbang (CMAT) 2025-26 .

The play based on Marionette Existentialism of Contemporary Society was written by Thounaojam Premjit.

It was designed and directed by Wareppa Khageengamba.

Speaking at the premiere of the play, MLA Nishikant Sapam said that theatre is an integral part of human civilization.

Saying that theatre has been contributing significantly to the growth of human civilization, the MLA underscored the importance of promoting theatre.

Late Wareppa Naba who led Theatre Mirror Imphal was a key figure in Manipur theatre.

His contributions in theatre and other fields of art and culture are immense, Nishikant said.

There are many people in Manipur who are quite talented in the fields of art and culture.

Manipur is also home to many outstanding sportspersons and eminent theatre personalities, he said.

Rupmahal Theatre vice-chairman Loitongbam Bra- jamohon lauded the Theatre Mirror's successful venture in the field of theatre.

JNMDA Director Pukhrambam Bilash lauded the dedication of late Wareppa Naba's family to the promotion of theatre in the State.
