Imphal, March 13: An ASI attached in the Imphal West Reserved Line was killed today when he fell down from a moving rickshaw and struck the road with his head.

The accident occurred near Keishampat Mutum Leikai at about 12.30 pm.

The deceased ASI is identified as Sorokhaibam Kumarjit (33) of Wangjing Lamding Cherapur.

On completion of post mortem at RIMS morgue, the corpse has been handed over to family members.

On the other hand, following a rumour that two corpses were lying at Phayeng forest and Maklang river bank, the villagers of Kangchup launched an extensive search for the bodies.

The rumour about the corpses started spreading in the area since last night.

Even as the villagers searched for the bodies from early morning till noon, the corpses could not be found.

One hacked to death : A 40 year old man was hacked to death by unidentified attackers today morning at Shangji village in Nungba, Tamenglong district.

The body has been retrieved by the police and deposited at RIMS morgue.

Bodies brought: The bodies of the three 'claimed' militants, who were killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles personnel at Khokai village under Chassad police station in Ukhrul district on March 12 have been brought to RIMS morgue for identification and necessary procedures.
