UNC to hold crucial meet today

All eyes are now on the "emergency presidential council meeting" of the United Naga Council (UNC) to be held on Monday, August 11 in Senapati.
Presidents of all the 'Naga tribe hohos' (Naga tribe organisations) in Manipur will be participating in the crucial meeting to decide the courses and modes of agitation on the issue of the the abrogation of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and the ongoing border fencing construction in "Naga ancestral homeland" .
UNC leaders had earlier hinted that they may resort to indefinite economic blockade on National Highways.
However, a "concrete decision" will be announced after the "emergency presidential council meeting" .
The United Naga Council (UNC) had served a 20-day ultimatum to the Government on July 22 .
The ultimatum period will lapse on August 11 .
The UNC, the Naga Women Union (NWU), the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and the Naga People's Movement for Human Rights-South (NPMHR-S) had served a 20-day ultimatum jointly to the Central Government on July 22 in connection with the the abrogation of Free Movement Regime (FMR) and the ongoing border fencing construction in "Naga ancestral homeland".
The ultimatum gave 20 days' time to the Central Government to address the issues.
